Wave forms in the Ocean Galaxies' series convey both raw energy and graceful motion in asymmetrical shapes. Created by a ship's bow, the waves break into unique compositions influenced by the strength of the wind, the condition of the sea, and the speed of the vessel. Viewed from above the contours are in a state of constant change. These photographs are simple images of an instant that comes and goes in the blink of an eye.
The resemblance of these forms to star clusters and galaxies led to the title of the series. It gives pause to consider the differences in time scales between these brief moments on our planet and those that define the age of the universe.
